Author Spotlight!! Elizabeth Sharp

Please tell us about yourself using 3 adjectives, 1 quirk and a pop culture addiction
Clumsy, whimsical, caring author addicted to sunflower seeds and Netflixing the way through series.

How do you come up with character names?  How do you come up with novel titles?
For characters, if they don’t come with their own name I open a magazine to a random page or Google the last word I wrote and use “I feel lucky.” I go with the first appropriate name I find. If all else fails, I take the first name of the top notification on FB and the last name from the second. For novels, they generally wind up being named by my writing group. especially Susan Burdorf. She’s the Title Whisperer.

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Don’t ask for advice until the book is written. Keep your nose down and get words on paper. Forget articles you read or things you’ve heard. Just get words down. You can edit crap, but you can’t edit a blank page.

What is your favorite fairy tale? What do you love about it?
My favorite fairy tale was always Repunzel. The story of a girl isolated her entire life only to escape and discover she was loved all along always resonated with me.

Tell us something people might be surprised to learn about you-
I am completely unorganized. Even my writing comes out of order.

About the Author
Elizabeth Sharp is the pen name used by Donna Dull. A full time mom and part dreamer, Donna is addicted Facebook while still recovering from her Dr. Pepper problem. A self-proclaimed techno geek, she loves cell phones, computers, tablets and all things technological. The internet has to be the greatest invention since the wheel, in her opinion. She lives in a quiet subdivision with her husband, young son, three cats, and far too many electronics. It’s quite possible she has some raccoon in her DNA, because she loves glitter and anything that sparkles. She enjoys making jewelry and costumes. Halloween is her favorite holiday since it’s the one day of the year that you can be whatever you want. But her first love will always be writing. Otherwise, hearing voices in her head would make her feel schizophrenic.
