When a crippled young lord rescues a girl falling from a tree, it reveals a secret about himself and his mother's side of the family that could put him at the center of a war with beings he thought only existed in fairy tales. Tristan Gareth Smyth lived his entire life stuck at home at Waverly Park, left behind while his Grandfather makes trips to London, all because of his blasted wheelchair. Then an American heiress falls in his lap, literally, and he must find a way to keep her at a distance to protect not only his secret, but everyone around him from an assassin sent to kill him.
*This is an exciting collaboration between a Steampunk writer and a Paranormal Romance author. Together we are blending the two cultures as seamlessly as possible so that fans of both genre will love what we’ve come up with.*
My Review:
Armored Hearts was incredible. Having been the second Steampunk book I've ever read, I really liked it.Gareth is the future Lord of Pensees. He is distant and usually in a bad mood around everyone except for his young Aunt Tabitha. Being confined to a wheelchair, he hates the fact that everyone looks at him as a helpless man. Everyone but a girl with wide eyes who he saved from a tree so long ago. She is but a distant memory.
Jessamine is an American who visited her aunt in England many years ago. During her visit, she fell out of a tall tree and would have been seriously injured or worse had it not been for the boy in the wheelchair.
Returning now as a beautiful young girl, she has her mind set on finding a suitor. And she knows exactly who she wants. The only question is will he accept?
The author did an amazing job on keeping the story alive and entertaining. I love the fact that it is steampunk mixed with Paranormalness included. I really hope that there is a book 2 in the works if not already out there. I am itching to know what happens next between Gareth and Jessie and what ever happened to Tabitha.
About the Authors:
Pauline Creeden is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy. In her fiction, she creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.
