Creating fiction gives one the power to design other lives, filled with romance and adventure, intrigue and passion. My own writing career began in middle school creative writing class, inspiring me to later major in literature. All it took was one teacher' encouragement and I was on my way.
I'm the author of seven published novels, including mystery, romance, paranormal, alternative romance and even a pair of middle grade readers. As for the personal stuff, I'm a Virgo, a procrastinator, like warm better than cold and drink neither Coke nor Pepsi. I was born in the Midwest but migrated to California as a child. My hobbies include doll collecting, lighthouses, photo restoration and writing, of course. My favorite sport is ice hockey, my favorite TV shows include Elementary, Person of Interest, NCIS, Downton Abbey, The Blacklist, and Grey's Anatomy. I am married to my hero of 30+ years and have 3 great kids!

“You can do this. I want you to skate alone around the rest of the way.”
“No, I’m scared.”
“Trust me, Maddie. You've got to trust me. I’ll be right behind you.”
“What if I fall?”
“I can skate faster than you can fall,” he whispered, and Maddie closed her eyes against the shiver that enveloped her body. He gave her a little push and she began to skate, dreading the moment he would let go. And of course, he did let go, hanging back to give her room to skate ahead.
The girls at the window were rapt, whispering and giggling quietly as they watched their hero skate with his new girlfriend. Even some of his teammates stopped near the locker room door to watch the arena and the attention Jack was paying to the pretty girl in the pink sweater.
Maddie could barely breathe.
God, I have to do this. Trust Jack. Don’t let me fall!
Slowly, carefully, Maddie took the curve at the far end of the oval rink, concentrating on looking smooth and capable. She didn't dare wonder if Jack was still behind her, or how far away he was. She kept her eyes on the exit door. She was doing fine until the sound of an engine, a loud sound akin to that of a giant lawnmower, pervaded the rink and startled Maddie from her ice exhibition. Abruptly she turned her head in the direction of the sound, and the break in concentration disrupted her momentum, making her off-balance and wobbly.
Instantly she looked down at her skates, trying to get back into rhythm, but it was too late. She tried to remember how to drag the toe of her skate to brake, and in doing so made herself even more insecure. Terror filled her head. Oh no, I’m going down!
The thought did not even fully cross her mind and Jack was with her, his arms not merely grasping her waist but wrapped fully around her, the heat of his chest warming her back and shoulders. Looking forward, Maddie realized they were only a few feet away from the rink door.
They slowed to a stop, but still he held her, his lips close to her ear.
“Now, is there anything more I can do to earn your trust?” he whispered before kissing her neck briefly. He waited patiently for her to catch her breath, to calm down from her scare.
Maddie closed her eyes. Jack’s show of affection was not lost on her, but she hesitated to acknowledge it for fear that she was over-reacting. Perhaps it was only in sympathy, a consolation for her pathetic performance. Taking a deep breath, she mentally forced aside the exhilarating feel of his lips against her skin. But she could not begin to slow the wild flutter in her chest.
“Just tell me, who is Sam Bony, and what is that awful noise?”

~

Continue the journey that started it all. Mycah, Rydan, Nari, and Naminé are determined to take back the throne. Except, that which starts sweet, ends bitter...

First off...holy smokes!!!

When first reading Sweet Oblivion, I truly hoped that Rydan and Nari would become more than friends. Then enters Mycah; a mysterious dark hottie that screams "danger" but you can't help but be curious. As you get to know the characters of the story, who the main ones are, and who are the sidekicks, I secretly wanted Zaylie to be more than a sidekick. Fast forward to Sweet Requiem and I get my wish.
Going back to the beginning, Nari is suffering at the hands of her adoptive father after her mother dies. He blames her for his wifes' death and Nari feels it but knows it is not true. Her only salvation is Rydan and their secret spot. Mycah works his way into her life and consumes her every thought. Of course, this put a wrinkle in her relationship with Rydan, but she can handle it.
Getting into the other world, I was a little confused at first but quickly worked through the kinks. It could have been the lack of sleep I was experiencing or the book high Book 1 left me with.
Sweet Escape was a non-stop thrill ride. With Namine having a more noticeable role in this book, she became my favorite. Being the evil King's puppet, it sucks. Namine works her magic and warns about his intentions to Mycah. Nari navigates the new terrain and learns more and more about who she is and what she is capable of doing.
Sweet Requiem is nothing short but incredible. Bailey has had each character grow and the story becomes more and more intense as you read each installment. The Sweet Series is an incredible read and I hope there is more to come for our characters as well from this talented author.

Excerpt

Snip. The jewelled secateurs caught the soft light thrown by the candles. Snip. Dark orange on green. Snip. Tiny white blossoms fell to the stone floor. Snip, snip.

Carmine Fox took an orange in her gloved hand and turned it over, this way and that, examining the pitted skin and running a finger along the bumps and grooves in the fruit.

In an alcove, the huge Brass Lady statue gleamed, her beautiful features painted buttery gold, eyes looking blindly at nothing at all.

Carmine's dress swept the floor, not a mourning dress as you might expect, having lost her father, but rather dove grey and lavender picked out with black trim along the panel, cuffs, hem, and bustle. Her hair, long and coiled, was the color of Grip's wings, as were her eyes. The muted tones of her dress made her sallow, or maybe it was just the lack of light.

Years of water and living things within the man-made lake had given the huge cathedral style glass ceiling and everything beneath a greenish hue and made the walls bleed rust.

She looked up from her study of the orange and threw it across the room, faster than the eye could see.

The woman standing in the shadows caught the orange, her arm shooting up to stop the fruit, as it nestled in her palm.

"Oh, brava."

O'Murtagh stood silently before Carmine Fox who walked toward her, the secateurs dangling lazily from her hand.

"Quiet little thing, aren't you?"

Fox peered at her intently, taking in the pale face and brown eyes framed with a veil of auburn hair.

"Well, quiet suits my needs. Feel free to eat the orange, which will be sweet and ripe. Ah, but how could such a thing grow here you wonder?" She paused. "It didn't, of course, there is a vast orangery in the house, but I like to be here to prune, the setting eases my mind."

O'Murtagh made no move to peel the fruit; instead she put it in one of the many pockets of her skirts.

Carmine Fox shrugged. "No matter. When you come to eat the orange, you will find it as I say. But now, we have other matters to discuss."

She walked back to the table where the plants stood and put the secateurs down.

"You have come highly recommended." Her heel tapped on the black and white tiled floor. "I have been told of your merits, misdeeds, and probably know more about you than your own mother, whom I believe has been dead a long time. But that doesn't interest me, your skills do."

O'Murtagh nodded imperceptibly.

"This is not a pretty tale, but then I suppose these things never are." Fox sighed and smiled, pacing the room, warming to her tale and the task ahead.

"Tell me, O'Murtagh. Do you believe in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth?" Fox waved her hand airily. "We are not here to talk about the philosophy of doddery old men falling asleep and drooling into their beards. I mean vengeance, retribution. Honor, even if it is only the kind to be found among thieves."

Fox stopped pacing, abruptly, and O'Murtagh could feel the heightened tension in the room under the still water.

"There is no need for you to know everything, but know this," Carmine resumed talking and walking, "I am not sorry that my father is dead. Vile man. He made my mother's life a misery. Drove her to her death. I had this statue of her made. You know, I talk to her as I prune." She gazed fondly at the Brass Lady.

"But he didn't do this alone. No. Rather he was fuelled by his once great friend turned great enemy. Interesting that they should have died in the same week, is it not? Thaddeus Lamb and my father climbed the tree to the gold at the top, from ragged boys to prosperous men, branch by branch to the prize at the end. Suffice to say there was a falling out and my father the Fox did everything in his power to bring the traitor Lamb down."

Carmine went to the Brass Lady, and standing on tiptoe, ran her hand down the statue's cold cheek.

"My mother would have hated to see this. Hated to see what he made me. But my father not only left me his riches, he left me his hatred. After my mother died, all I heard of was how he was going to get his revenge. Now that he is no longer here, it is up to me to see this thing through. You do understand, don't you?"

"I do."

O'Murtagh's voice was so quiet that Carmine Fox wasn't sure she had heard her in the first place.

"I suppose you do, why would you be in your line of work otherwise?"

The assassin kept her brown gaze on the woman who had hired her, but held her tongue.

"Very well. Your job then, is to take the family down. Not directly, but by hitting them where they will hurt the most. Trade routes, business associates, and so on. My father left a diary full of any information you should need. I shall release the names of four people to you when the time is right. None of this shall be traced back to me, and if you should fail, I will make your life one long misery."

"I have no doubt."

"Good. So," Carmine Fox rubbed her hands together, almost gleefully, "Thaddeus Lamb, the Head of the Family is out of our way. I have been told that other factions are gathering like vultures over the rotting corpse of what remains and that the Lambs–when they are able to act–will find other matters to occupy their time. Such as a nasty little turf war. At which point we shall have progressed to a point where we will be able to muzzle them entirely."

She laughed, and O'Murtagh, seasoned as she was, felt the small hairs on her arms raise and her skin became as pitted as that of the orange in her pocket.

Fox pirouetted, her skirts spreading out and then settling.

"None of it shall ever be traced back to me," she delighted in her glee, before quietening. "Then I can get straight to the heart of things."

O'Murtagh's place was not to ask. She was being paid handsomely and had more time than she cared for to do these jobs. Nor was she squeamish, her body-count was impressive. Though she stopped short at children, babies, and pregnant women.

"Now, my dear." Fox clapped her hands together. "Time for tea. Would you care to accompany me back to the house?"
Memento Mori is an intricate read. With multiple points of views to fuel the story, it was kinda hard to put down the first night. This book is unlike any other steampunk I've read. It was a nice change of pace, too. Katy did an amazing job on painting a Victorian-style mafia with the steampunk kick of the Brass Lady. That right there is sheer genius.

My Review:

Right from the start, Come Back to Me is intense. Bailey goes through such an emotional heartbreak that you can't help but shed a few tears for her. As she tries to move on with her life, events and people make it hard for her to let go. Reading both sides of the story makes it an amazing ride. It's like I wanted to scream at Bailey to stop being so hard-headed and listen. I wanted to throat-punch Ty so many times throughout this book, but I did have a moment where I felt sorry for him. I would recommend this book hands down. It is a light read but will leave you in love.

My Mechanical Angel Cover Reveal

Title: My Mechanical Angel
Author: Harmony Lawson

Genre: Young Adult
Reveal Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Synopsis:
The small Wild West farming community of Whitcomb was afraid of Seraphton, the shining metropolis that lies along the horizon. Reverend Archibald preached that the city was forbidden, an abomination to the world, and evil demons lurk inside despite the celestial name. Emmaline had a feeling there was more to Seraphton than the Reverend let on. Emmaline Fortenbury had always felt out of place in Whitcomb and wondered if Seraphton was really like he said. He preached like he held a grudge. What were the secrets of Seraphton and how did it connect with Reverend Archibald?
Then a stranger comes to town and the meeting changes her life. Aleksander Galloway was feared by the townspeople, but she found him fascinating. She wanted more out of life for herself. She wanted the chance to explore the world, and he seemed to be the man to help her. He had silver metal wings and a mechanical eye. He was handsome in a way that wasn’t like the townspeople of Whitcomb. He was sophisticated, educated, and very interesting. How can their love grow when their two towns collide? Can their love bring everyone together for peace?

Harmony Lawson was born on a naval base in San Diego, California. Currently, she and her family live in Northern California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Her education is in drawing, painting, and writing. When she read her first romance novel at age 16, she became a hopeless romantic.
Harmony is fascinated by angels, and she incorporates research in angels, the Nephilim, and fallen angels into her fictional stories. Many of the descriptions in her books reflect actual documentation found in religious documents.
While she has endured many hardships in life, she believes life will be better tomorrow. Life has its ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and Heaven and Hell. She believes the bad times are a test to prove a person's worth. Her books reflect on that concept.

A little something extra about me:
I write fantasy/romance for young adults...seems to be the voice that fits me the best. My first book "Apocalypse of Angels: Seeing Angels" was published January 2013 (It was published under a different name in 2009 through iUniverse-the company wasn't working for me)...and I'm told I'm doing well for a first time published author---but I'm still learning the industry. I'm currently halfway finished with the first draft my 3rd novel (8 novels planned all together: not all are in the series: and my ideas keep growing). I've also dabbled a little with children's fiction, I've written and illustrated 3 stories, they aren't published as of yet. I've been writing since I was 16 (poems mainly) and dabbling in art since I was 4. I started writing seriously when I was 20. Most of my experience is self-taught but I have taken correspondence courses for writing children's fiction and I've taken several classes for art. My series was mentioned in the Sacramento Bee in May 2013 and I've been interviewed on our local radio station, KNCO.

“Who’s there?” I say trying to keep my voice calm.
No answer.
“If someone’s there, you’d better let me know,” I call out in a warning tone. I almost sound like Ma for a minute. I can’t help but smile at the thought. “I’ll go get my Pa’s gun!”
Still there is no answer. Maybe it is all in my head, and it is just the wind of the storm blowing things around. I turn to leave, but I’m stopped by an unknown voice that sends a shiver up my spine.
“Good evening, miss, and please don’t get your Pa’s gun,” his voice is soft and calming. I am not afraid of this voice. I grab a pitchfork just in case. I’m not dumb. A girl needs to be cautious. I turn around to see where the voice was coming from.
“You just come out of the darkness, and we shall see.” My voice wavers a little bit, but I hold the pitchfork and try to keep it steady. I don’t want him to see me shaking. I’m not sure if I’m shaking from fear or from being chilled. He is a stranger, after all. I’m not used to having strangers around.
He steps out of the shadows and into the light of the lantern. His dark features are beautiful and instantly has me enthralled, and I know where he comes from. His skin is pale and seems to glow in the lantern light. The light is casting strange shadows on his face. He definitely isn’t from anywhere around here. I’ve been raised to believe the inhabitants of Seraphton are devils, but this tall gentleman looks anything but normal. His dark brown hair is styled in a short spiky way. He is wearing a blue shirt, a shiny black vest with black pants with silver zippers all over, and black leather boots. He looks quite soaked from the rain. One glance from his dark eyes makes my heart do a flip-flop. There is something different about his eyes. And his silver metal wings on his back certainly interest me. How intriguing. I wonder if the wings are attached to his back. Who is this man?
Is this a coincidence or what? Here I am tossing and turning about Seraphton all night, and now one of its inhabitants is standing in front of me. Is this fate?
He steps closer, and I hold the pitchfork tightly. He stops and holds up his hands. “It’s ok, Miss. I’m not going to hurt you. I just crashed into your field, and with the strength of the storm, I had to seek shelter. My name is Aleksander Galloway.”
